In remembrance

I have only be blogging for a few weeks when I stumbled across the fascinating blog of Alain Emerson, who is a Pastor at Emmanuel Church in Lurgan.

He has been updating the world about the illness his wife Lindsay was dealing with and how their strong and unwavering Christian faith was helping them through the daily challenges.

I learnt today that Lindsay died this morning.

I have never met either of them, but I have learnt so much, I have been humbled by Alain's dignified and truly strong faith. It has been a lesson.

I was thinking what to post about this and then I thought back to my Sunday School days and remembered the 8 Beatitudes. They come from the book of Matthew and teach us what Christ values.

I can't imagine the pain of losing your wife, especially someone so young.

I know that Alain's faith will see him through the dark days.

I will be remembering his words from his various blogs for a long, long time.

God bless Alain, Lindsay and their families.

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall possess the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice,
for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called sons of God.

Blessed are they who suffer persecution for justice sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven
