Northern Ireland has many parades which are contentious, which are subject to a determination by the Parades Commission. Parading has been a long established tradition in Northern Ireland, with both Nationalists and Loyalists using them to commemorate various historical matters.
When the Parades Commission was established no-one envisaged that it would be asked to deal with a complaint, by the Police Service of Northern Ireland, relating to elephants from the Sydney Circus walking through Bangor, Co Down.
Its hard to imagine that the Police in Bangor believe that this is a matter worthy of their much publicised limited resources but it has been and it beggars belief.

From this side of the pond it seems to me that parades mainly serve the purpose of trying to start shit.
Now here you have animals who consistently get right to the point, so to speak, and they're banned? Only in NI :)
