Cars and buskers

I think this man wins the competition as the World's smallest busker...

Today did not start well...I woke up with a sore head (alcohol related) and then the lights went out just as I was chatting on MSN...then I had to leave to return the rental car...a journey I expected to be smoothe, without problems and over in minutes. More on that later.

I noticed on my way out of the Apartment that there was an enquiry office in the nearby hair salon, so I went in to explain to the lady there that we had no electricity and to my horror (it has been a recurring theme on this trip) she asked was I German!

She then took me upstairs to the fusebox, got a metal brush shaft and begun a process of amateur electrical repair by telling me to poke the trip switch til the electric returned.

It did, eventually come on.

The car rental return was not so easy.

I thought I might just lose (note the correct spelling Mr Reid) my sanity...I drove around the streets of Zagreb, being chased by trams, having horns blared by impatient locals and finding that the Hertz rental office was as easy to locate as Osama Bin Laden in the North Western region of Afghanistan...I phoned them early in the journey for directions which consisted of..I don't know where you are (turns out i was almost outside the fecking place) and that I should ask someone where the office is (imagine that...asking someone?!)..

I had to fix this myself by locating a car parking space (almost impossible during the morning rush to work) and then walking to the office to memorise the route...the office was more than a mile from where i managed to get a parking space...It really was nothing short of hell...

I eventually returned the car, after 2 hours driving, when the journey should have taken 10 mins...amazing thing was we managed to drive over 400kms to Zagreb without getting lost once...but looking for a needle in a haystack in the city became something else...

I am now officially shattered...
