Safe and Sound

The Royal Irish Regiment took part in a homecoming parade in Belfast today. It was the subject of much debate, as some people feel that the British Army are not welcome to march in Belfast.

Anyway, the parade was well received by those who attended and the BBC have a clip here.

Those protesting were making reference to RIR activity during the Northern Ireland terrorist campaign and also their objections to the army being sent to Iraq or Afghanistan...

But we should all remember, today was about the young men from Northern Ireland who had returned home to their mums, dad and partners...Safe and Sound and that is something worth celebrating...
