from Ballymena to Mizen Head via Limerick and Cork

On Wednesday I set off with Jade on a mini roadtrip, the plan being to travel to Cork City, then visit Blarney, Mizen Head, the Cliffs of Moher and finish with an overnight stay in Limerick.

The weather remained perfect. Warm, dry and calm days....could this really be Ireland.

The route covered 918 miles over 4 days.

The Cliffs of Moher are impressive but require a nice sunny day to fully appreciate their majestic appearance.

In Ballydehob, we noticed this statue of a famous local wrestler, who more or less shares a name with Jade...I hadn't noticed at the time, that he also shares a similar look when angry / grumpy...

Ireland is in danger of becoming known as the nation which traps and robs its tourists. Most of its amenities have too high a price, for example to kiss the blarney stone its 10 euro, a cooked breakfast at the guesthouse 12 euro. Park at the Cliffs of Moher 8 euro, entry to the visitor centre exhibits is a further charge.

In most pubs 2 bacardi and one coke were costing 11 euro. There is just little value for money anywhere, which is disappointing.
Visiting the various sights was a highlight, and my favourite city was Limerick. Cork seemed dead and really dull. Maybe it gets more lively on a Saturday but it seemed really uninteresting.
